Goal One
Enhance the learning process by providing information and the technology
to support the creation, application, and exchange of knowledge.
OBJECTIVE 1.1
Ensure that access to information and technological resources meets the learning needs of the campus and the community.
a. Sustain and develop additional funding sources for the Assistive Computing Resource Center’s (ACRC) self-supporting status. Person Responsible: Mike Ross Time Frame: March 2007 Status: In progress (1.1)
Between 2005 and 2006, ACM's ACRC took great strides toward self-sustainability with assistive technology outreach to Inland Empire recipients. In particular, Department of Rehabilitation client base grew from 67 to 175, a 261% increase. Revenues grew from $35,470 to $145,128, representing a 414% increase.
b. Provide and support student, faculty and staff secure and reliable access, any time and any where, to critical campus electronic resources such as email communication, course content web pages, portals and applications. DCHS supports the installation of anti-virus software for the Housing Students, Faculty and Staff. DCHS supports the infrastructure of the Blackboard system, which provides Faculty and Students with on-line courses.
c. Support, enhance and inform campus constituents on wireless capabilities provided on campus. Person Responsible: Owen Owens, Javier Torner Time Frame: On-going Status: In progress (2.5)
TNS is increasing the number of access points accross the campus. TNS is adding as customers request new locations for wireless or as new grants and classroom teachings take advanage of wireless. We are increasing the density of devices to provide better coverage.

Currently working with the Cross Cultural Center to install an open lab in the Student Union which will include wireless printing capability. (2.5)
OBJECTIVE 1.2
Collaborate with the campus community to address competency and awareness needs for students, faculty, and staff on information technology.

DCHS acquired Meeting Maker training modules for faculty and staff. DCHS continues to train the campus staff in our HEAT software system.
Professional Development offers a comprehensive training program that is strategically aligned with campus supported software. Training information is disseminated to the campus in the following ways: Campus email listserv, catalogs and brochures, and the ACM/Professional Development web site. As of this year the Professional Development Coordinator has been on the agenda to speak at several college and department meetings including being part of the "new employee orientation" offered through HR. Professional
Development is also scheduled to participate in the next faculty orientation.
ACM/Professional Development and the Student Technology Support Center collaborate on applicable training development and resources for continuity of most training materials and practices. The departments are developing workshops to train student assistants to better serve the student population.
TNS is having open forums to discuss issues the campus community may have.

Course content - Professional Development offers Blackboard training three times a quarter and has recently developed comprehensive online tutorials for Blackboard, which should be ready by January 31, 2007. Student user tutorials have been created as well and are currently being tested for usability.

OBJECTIVE 1.3
Enhance and enrich teaching and curricular development through technological applications.
a. Engage the academic community in the design/redesign of curricular offerings (web-based instruction—Blackboard) and other instructional delivery methods to address the diverse learning needs of students. Person Responsible: Mike Ross Time Frame: On-going Status: In progress (1.1)
b. Pursue a long-range plan for upgrading and maintaining smart classrooms. Person Responsible: Lorraine Frost, Mike Ross Time Frame: June 2007 Status: In progress (1.3)
A three-five year plan to upgrade/maintenance SMART classrooms is currently being drafted. Draft completion: February 2007.
c. Work with Academic Affairs to determine a long term strategy to support Specialty Centers software licenses. Person Responsible: Lorraine Frost Time Frame: May 2007 Status: In progress
In collaboration with the Technology Advisory Council (TAC), Institutional Research will be engaged to develop a follow on survey, similar to the baseline survey, that was conducted by the Speciality Software subcommittee of TAC. VP Frost also established an MOU with the dean of BPA to ensure costs for Compustat and CRSP were shared between IRT and BPA. Funding for the software licenses were also centralized at the divisional level.
d. Explore the possibility of using digital radio frequency for dissemination of campus information. Person Responsible: Mike Ross Time Frame: June 2007 Status: Currently in the process a search for a frequency.
e. Produce video programming for broadcasting cable television networks. Person Responsible: Mike Ross Time Frame: June 2007 Status:
In collaboration with the Communication Studies Department, ACM is producing four minute news segments to be aired on Charter Cable. ACM also produces "In the Public Interest," a weekly program aired on local Channel 3.

Goal Two
Provide a reliable and integrated technological infrastructure, which promotes
a welcoming and safe intellectual, social, and physical environment.
OBJECTIVE 2.1
Design, implement, and maintain a technological infrastructure to ensure reliable, 24x7 access to information.
a. Continue to work with the CSU system wide working groups, such as, ITAC (Information Technology advisory Counsel), NTA (Network and Technology Alliance), STA (Systems Technology Alliance), ISO, DAT (Directors of Academic Technology) and CMS and other relevant working groups. DCHS Director is a member of the STA group. DCHS supports the campus community with reliable 24x7 services. TNS: Director is a member of the NTA group.

TNS works with Cenic to ensure that our connection is working properly. TNS is working with Cenic on a second and faster connection to Cenic. It is scheduled to be completed this summer.

e. In collaboration with Capital Planning, Design & Construction, Academic Affairs, Faculty Representatives and Student Affairs, develop, install, and implement the telecommunications and video infrastructure for new buildings. ACM's current projects: Biology Renovation: In the process of purchasing media equipment for 13 rooms. Completion of installation is set for March 30, 2007. Classes begin April 1, 2007.
Student Recreation Sport Center: In the process audio installation (Jan. 2007).
Coordinating conference room media installation. Project completion: February 22, 2007.
College of Education: Continue to consult with COE and CPDC on media related issues.
Physical Sciences Renovation: Building construction delayed in Spring 07. Currently renovating Yasuda classroom to replace PS-10. Remove media equipment for PS during Spring 07.
Performing Arts Feasibility Study: Submitted media infrastructure & equipment recommendations.
Coussoulis Arena TV/Video infrastructure: Ten camera locations within the Arena have been identified. Currently fiber and electrical are being installed in those locations.
TNS works with CPDC in the design of the telecommunications wiring both within the building and between buildings and the MDF. We advise where and when we can to insure that the user needs are met. We work with CPDC to get dial tone to new buildings for fire marshal inspections.
f. Support the development of a wiring Telecommunications Master Plan for the campus in conjunction with Administration & Finance. Support Administration & Finance efforts in the Asset Management. Person Responsible: Owen Owens Time Frame: On-going Status: In progress (2.4, 2.5)
We have supported the idea of a wiring telecommunications master plan. We have made suggestions as to vedors to develop the plan and have volunteered to take part and shared various idea with CPDC. TNS is looking forward to this being completed.

DCHS/ACS are working together on the P.S scheduled to stop processing migrated jobs. DCHS implemented the new SOTE's process, with new hardware and software, wich replaced the old SETE's process in the IBM mainframe. DCHS continues to implement new jobs in Control-M for the P.S Finacial application, these jobs replaces the ones in the IBM mainframe.
h. Continue evaluation of solutions to protect campus information resources from malicious attacks.. Person Responsible: Owen Owens, Javier Torner Time Frame: On-going Status: In progress (2.4, 2.5)
TNS had a repersentitive on the COs security group evalulating new security devices that may become part of ITRP2.
i. Define Help Desk Service Levels of Understanding (SLU) and publish on Data Center & Helpdesk Services (DCHS) web site. Person Responsible: Ramiro DiazGranados? Time Frame: December 2007 Status: In progress (2.5)
The CSU Helpdesk Conference will be used to define SLU's at the campuses level, if this is not possible, DCHS will define it's own.

Expand and improve IRT services and products to meet stated goals and objectives of the campus.

c. Implement an orientation session, in conjunction with HR, to introduce new and existing technical staff to the services and products of the division. Develop a plan to safeguard the University's information assets and communications infrastructure.

Develop and support partnerships that will provide additional resources and/or

Maintain current partnerships and develop new partnerships with academic, civic, governmental, and corporate partners to further the goals and objectives of IRT and CSUSB.
