Priority Group Updates
Web Accessibility Team - The initial web report is being sent forward on 5/15/07. Mike C. submitted a draft of responses of the initial coded memo. The next step is that an initial plan be formalized. The implementation plan is due on 6/15/07. The documents are posted on the blackboard website. Established a model in addressing the compliance of the executive summary. Sites were being corrected as they were reviewed. It was noted that some sites had gone from high compliance, after completing the visual review, down to zero. A few of the major sites that had gone to zero were CPDC, University Police, and Financial Aid. We are happy to say that Arts and letters are at 100%.
Evans has been working with divisional webmasters answering questions and assisting them in getting their pages to 100% compliance. Jim M. wanted to thank Evans and Rosa for their assistance in getting ODL up to 100% compliance.
President Karnig requested that Dr. Fernandez, VP DeMauro and VP Frost meet to resolve the compliance issue of who is responsible for webpage compliance – the webmaster, supervising administrator? This meeting has not been scheduled as of yet, but Mike Ross asked that he be included since ACM is being looked at. Lorraine will follow up with Barbara H. regarding the Admin. Council meeting minutes for clarity.
Instructional Materials Team – Training modules being created. The list below provides the challenges in SSD this quarter:
- A collection of 10 (one hour each) non-captioned video tapes paired with a text book of approximately 80 pages that had to be hand type; also a mixture of other materials that needed to be transcribed. Cost to transcribe: $4-$8 per minute. SSD’s overall cost is approximately $500-$7000. This cost is based on a company we currently have a contract with, which has a four day response time. .
- Because of minor changes, three course readers (a collection of copies of articles, chapters out of books) had to be redone, which was anywhere from 50 to 100 pages each.
- Series of power point presentations, which were 60+ pages, were all in text boxes. Had to manually create a description for each slide.
- No OCR process for 19 PDF course handout type assignments. 10 to 30 pages each.
- One student with 26 books for the quarter and another with 14 books.
Glad to say that DMS 4 is in MP3 format. SSD has hired a new media production assistant.
Procurement Team - Coded memo received from Keith Boyum and David Ernest updating timelines due to staffing issues. The timeline has been extended to August 10th. IMAP draft due date is 6/15/07; with the final submission by 11/1/07. Lorraine suggested that the subgroup submit their report to the Faculty Senate Executive Committee prior to 6/15/07.
Action Item Updates:
- Lorraine emailed Michael McClean regarding the issues and concerns of PeopleSoft 5.08. Waiting for CMS central office to respond.
- Library database information was reviewed and report given to website designers, Brent and Stacy. Approximately 16 other campuses are implementing the system. Eva to send the document to Lorraine and she will push it forward.
- Lorraine has not met with Charlie, as of yet, to discuss interface with PS 8.9.
